Memory of Sound – Workshop with SOCH Foundation
40 participants came together for a workshop, conducted by artist Parul Sharma at the museum. The session invited them to translate memories into clay. Guided by sounds from everyday life — subtle noises often overlooked yet deeply embedded in personal memory — the workshop encouraged participants to rekindle moments from their past. What emerged were clay slabs that carried stories of lives lived, each piece becoming a tangible expression of memory, reflection, and their connections with life.
Workshop with Girl 2B India
Led by emerging artist Sriparna Dutta, the sessions were designed for students from the G2B, a girl-focused empowerment NGO, to explore their creative expression through drawing and storytelling.
The workshop introduced them to the globally renowned artist Van Gogh to garner understanding from his work while exploring his colour palette and technique.
A second workshop was themed My Garden of Me, inspired by Mrinalini Mukherjee’s organic forms, focused on creating their own thriving gardens with an imaginary personal landscape.
Both these workshops were a culmination of artistic education and appreciation for the masters, while developing their own style and creative thinking.
The workshops were conducted in collaboration with Girl2B India, at their centre in Kolkata.
Gratitude Through Art
A collaboration between The Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection and CHI for Medanta Hospital.
Over the period of one month, 24 children from two CHI-supported communities came together to imagine, draw, and paint their world on a 9-foot canvas. The workshops were led by artist Megha Madan, with support from the Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection and the CHI team. Inspired from Medanta’s Tree of Life, we present, The Garden of Life, a tribute to health care workers.
Memory Museum – Workshop with the Women of Rafooghar
The “Memory Museum” workshop was an exploration of how memories can be preserved and shared through art. It was focused on the themes of storytelling, reflection, and creative expression. The workshop invited participants to recall moments they wish to hold onto — instances of joy, love, care, or laughter — and translate them into visual form. Each participant created a personal artwork that became part of a larger, collective installation. Together, these works formed a gentle, immersive “museum” of memories.
The workshop was conducted by artist Parul Sharma for Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection and the women of Rafooghar, a community space, inviting them to reflect and express personal memories they wished to preserve. The workshop gave them a sense of self preservation while breaking the boundaries of regular museum spaces.
Observe. Imagine. Create. – A workshop
CHI students between the ages of 7 and 10 participated in a workshop thoughtfully designed to encourage collaborative thinking. Students worked in groups to create playful, creative compositions. The process allowed them to create collectively, work in groups, translate their ideas into discussions and further develop their creative storytelling abilities as a group.
Art Healing Workshop
Conducted by Ms. Harsheet, the workshop was centered around emotional well-being and self-discovery for the teachers at the CHI school. A breather from their daily lives, the workshop was designed for participants to break down internal barriers and reflect on their emotions.
The session offered a safe and creative space to explore one’s strengths and vulnerabilities while embracing spontaneity, relaxation, and joy.
Create-a-story Workshop
An engaging workshop on storytelling, where children worked in groups to create a shared artwork. Each participant added to the evolving story through drawing and colour, encouraging imagination, teamwork, and creative thinking. The session concluded with story-sharing, leaving the young participants inspired and connected through their collective artwork.
Student Visit – University Of Virginia
Global Studies undergraduate students from the University of Virginia, accompanied by Dr. Saeed Ahmad, visited the Private Collection. During their visit, they explored the Jangpura area to examine urban transformations and developments.
Workshop drawing from a painting
Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection hosted a two – part creative workshop where children explored a painting, an oil on canvas, by Amar Nath Sehgal, dated 1960. First, they were asked to study the work, as a professional would, draw their own interpretation.
Traffic Light Workshop
The CHI kindergartners delved into the world of traffic lights. They learned safety rules and meaning behind the lights of traffic lights. The activity combined education with creativity, making learning colourful and fun!
CHI Teacher’s Art Healing workshop
Ms. Harsheet led a soothing art healing session for the teachers at CHI, offering them a much-needed opportunity to unwind and reflect. Through creative expression, participants explored their emotions, finding relaxation and rejuvenation.
Workshop recreate your favourite objects
Students from CHI explored their imagination and observation skills in a unique workshop at the Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection. They created their favorite objects and some got inspired by the artworks at the museum.
Draw Your Friend Workshop
The Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection hosted a delightful workshop for kindergarteners, where creativity took center stage. The little artists traced their friends’ faces and brought their unique perspectives to life by creating artworks of how they see their friends. The activity was filled with laughter, imagination, and artistic joy!
Workshop creating Frames
The Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection hosted an engaging workshop on creating frames, sparking creativity and enthusiasm among participants. The workshop concluded with cheerful faces proudly showcasing their beautifully crafted frames, reflecting the joy of hands-on learning and artistic expression.
DPS visit to NGMA
In July 2024, the Sehgal Private Collection hosted a curated walk at NGMA for Class 12th Fine Arts students and teachers from DPS, Sector 45, Gurugram.
Art Healing Workshop
Conducted by Ms. Harsheet, the workshop was focused on the art healing for the teachers of CHI schools to help them rejuvenate and heal as a part of a therapeutic and fun art session at the school.
Collage Making Workshop
Our collage workshop was a burst of energy and creativity as young artists explored with all kinds of materials and colorful cutouts. The results were stunning—unique and exciting artworks that showcased their imagination and bold ideas. It was a fun-filled day of artistic exploration and discovery!
Delhi Public School visits Sehgal Collection
Art students from DPS, Gurgaon, visited the collection for a walkthrough and film screening. This inspired many of them to create their own works as well in the museum .
Story & Art Workshop, April 2024
The youngest children from the Children’s Hope India Foundation joined us for their very first art workshop at the Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection. A delightful story set the stage, sparking their imaginations and inspiring them to bring their own versions of a tortoise to life on paper.
Workshop Poetry and Art, Feb 2024
The Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection hosted a joyful Poetry and Art Workshop for kindergarten students, filled with colors, creativity, and rhymes. The little ones explored their imagination through fun poems and vibrant artwork, blending words and visuals in their own unique ways. It was a day of laughter, learning, and artistic discovery, celebrating the boundless creativity of young minds!
Bookmark Making Workshop
Students from Children Hope India visited the Sehgal Private Collection for a bookmark making workshop.
They observed the artworks of Sehgal and drew inspiration from it, added their unique style and crafted bookmarks.
Kamaladevi Puraskar
The Crafts Council of India and Delhi Crafts Council, honoured the artist and his work at the event of the Kamaladevi Puraskar, an award for young craftspersons in India. The bust of Gandhi, by the artist was commemorated at the Gandhi King Plaza in IIC.
Workshop on Learning Shapes, November 2023.
Students of CHI came over to the museum and participated in an exciting workshop on understanding colours and shapes. This was a group of students from age 4.
B.C. Sanyal at the Partition Museum
The bust of artist and mentor, B.C. Sanyal was unveiled by the Director, of Amar Nath Sehgal Private collection, Rajan Sehgal and Chairperson of the Partition Museum, Mrs Kishwar Desai along with Partition historian and writer Aanchal Malhotra at a book review by Harper’s Collins in the Partition Museum.
Workshop: Learning Colours
The workshop conducted by upcoming artist Parul Sharma interacted with children of ages 4 and 5 learning about colour in their favourite objects. A fun exercise to encourage children to understand composition as well through collage.
Workshop: Learning Impressions
Students studying in the CHAHAK school of Children’s Hope india visited the museum for a workshop on impressions. The tiny tots spent the day imprinting using material found around them and in nature. It was a fun filled experiment of colour.
Remembering the Partition, 2023
Mrs Kishwar Desai, in conversation with Mrs. Sujata Prasad and Oroon Das at the India International Centre to discuss the work behind the museum and understand the stories and documentation of the horrors of the partition followed by the rehabilitation process in New Delhi by the government in 1947. At the event, tribute was paid to the artist Amar Nath Sehgal with the presence of his work, Soothing Hand, a bronze sculpture that was inspired from the Indian Partition.
Independence Day at the Partition Museum
Unveiling of two bronze sculptures by Amar Nath Sehgal “Soothing hand’ and “Voices” on the occasion of the 76th Independence day and Indian Partition. The sculptures depict pain and suffering of the survivors of partition. Sehgal himself was a victim of the painful history that marked him for life.
Workshop: Creating from creation
Students associated with the Children’s Hope India visited the museum and spent a day understanding the art of Amar Nath Sehgal in the museum. The interaction then led the children to create their own artwork inspired by the art in the museum.
Symposium in IGNCA
As a part of the exhibition, “A Life in Black and White” IGNCA in collaboration with the Amar Nath Sehgal Private Collection organized a
symposium “The Assembly of a Creative Process”.
